The House Organ of Franz Schmidt - [ACD-1108] $16.98

Roman Summereder plays the 2-manual and pedal organ of 9 stops with mechanical action and a detached console, created in 1909 by the Slovak organbuilder Vincze Mosny (1844-1919), who was chosen by composer Franz Schmidt (1874-1939) to build the organ to Schmidt's tonal design. Too large for Schmidt's home, the organ was installed in a room of a Vienna palace whose owner provided the space and 24/7 access to Schmidt. Moved several times following Schmidt's death and WWII, the organ was restored in 2022 and placed in a gallery of the resonant St. Ursula's Church in Vienna.
