$65.00

A history of organbuiders Reuben Midmer & Son, 1860-1920, titled Organ Building in Brooklyn and on Long Island represents 20 years of research by author Stephen L. Pinel, resulting in annotations on more more than 540 pipe organs known to have been built by the firm 1860 to 1920 in 18 states. The work-list is arranged in geographic order by state, city, and institution, and incorporates the annotations. This full-color limited edition surveys the firm's work from its onset in 1860 to its acquisition by the Losh brothers in 1920. Pinel, a frequent author on the American pipe organ, compiles hundreds of rarely seen or never-before-seen photographs and extensive biographical details on the principals and employees of the firm. As well, a catalog and some promotional literature are replicated in the book. Handsomely designed by Len Levasseur, the book is a welcome addition to the published record of the American organ. OHS Press, 2025; hardcover 8-3/4" x 11-1/4" x 1-3/16", 355 pages.
