Johann Ernst Eberlin Organ Music, Obermarchtal Holzhey organ - [ACD-2051] $16.98

At the 1780-87 Johann Nepomuk Holzhey organ of 60 ranks in Obermarchtal Abbey in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, Jamila Javadova-Spitzberg plays works by Johann Ernst Eberlin (1705-1762). Eberlin, born in Bavaria, began musical training at age 10 in the Jesuit school St. Salvator, where Leopold Mozart (1719-1787) was also trained. Later, the men became close friends. Eberlin became organist of Salzburg Cathedral in 1726 and the court and cathedral choirmaster in 1749, supervising about one hundred musical employees of the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg. The nine toccatas and fugues recorded here were published in 1747 and dedicated to the Prince-Archbishop. The G-minor keyboard sonata in 3 movements and Gallant style was published in 1759 and transcribed for organ by Javadova-Spitzberg.
