This set of 2 DVDs and 2 CDs features an extensive documentary video detailing the restoration of the iconic 1934 Harrison and Harrison organ of King’s College, Cambridge. Video shot over more than a year, at all stages of the restoration, and presented by David Briggs, makes this set ultimate in-depth portrait of one of the world’s most famous musical instruments being reborn.

The set also includes filmed performances on the DVDs, duplicated on the two CDs, by organ scholars past and present. David Briggs improvises, and Robert Quinney, Ashley Grote, Tom Winpenny, Richard Gowers, Henry Websdale and Donal McCann play a wonderful range of music by Bach, Mendelssohn, Reger, Vaughan-Williams, Bridge, Howells, Murrill, Vierne, Dupré, Alain, Messiaen and Bingham.

Video on the two DVDs include:

A customer who received this set within a week of its release in late 2020 writes,
". . . [exploring] the union of science, craftsmanship and music in the first DVD is simply outstanding.  For example, the demonstration with external and internal microphones and the impact that the case and the building has on the sound as it is received by the listener in the chapel as opposed to within the organ case is just brilliant.  The explanation of voicing, of the harmonic series and its implications for pipe design and then registration, is stunning.  It is accessible without ever being patronizing, intelligent without being overly technical and I just think that the harmony of disciplines is exhilarating.
This DVD should be made available to everyone who loves the organ, and to everyone who does not like its music or does not appreciate it: everyone has so much to learn from it."
