The beautiful incidental music composed and conducted by Fauré in 1898 for the play "Pelléas et Mélisande" by Maurice Maeterlinck was arranged and orchestrated as a suite in four movements the same year and published in 1900 as Fauré's Op. 80. The four movements are:
1. Prélude
2. Fileuse
3. Sicilienne
4. La mort de Mélisande

Thomas Baugh, director of music at Christ Episcopal Church in Roanoke, Virginia, transcribed the work in 2004. He writes, "During the summer of 2004, as the Fisk voicers produced the beautiful foundation stops, strings, and reeds of their opus 124 at Christ Church in Roanoke, I was reminded of this music and set about transcribing it for the newly minted voices. This transcription in the French symphonic style reflects many years of study on the 1880 Cavaillé-Coll organ at the Church of St. Francois de Sales in Lyon."

His recording of the transcription as played on Fisk op. 124 is included on the CD, "French Éclat in the Roanoke Valley," Raven OAR-850.

The clearly engraved score covers 19 pages and is printed in 9" x 12" size on acid-neutral paper.

Thomas Baugh became Director of Music of Christ Episcopal Church in Roanoke in 1986. He received the Master of Music degree with distinction from Westminster Choir College and studied organ in the United States with John Mueller, Bruce Stevens, Eugene Roan, and in Lyon, France, with Louis Robilliard. He has also studied at the Royal School of Church Music in London.
