The Organs in the Collegiate Church, Wilhering, Austria, Ikarus Kaiser, organist - [ACD-1087] $16.98

The fabulously late Baroque decoration of the Collegiate Church (Stiftskirche) in Wilhering, Austria, contains two organs. The large 50-rank Romantic organ in the gallery, built in 1884 by the Austrian Leopold Breinbauer, was recently restored by the fabled Swliss firm, Kuhn, to its original tonal state and it delivers a very impressive plenum and very colorful effects. Three pieces are played on the 1746 Nikolaus Rummel choir organ in the front of the church, with satisfying fullness from its 12 stops on one manual and pedal in the astonishingly grand acoustics of the space. *first recording

Played on the large 1884 Breinbauer organ:
Joseph Rheinberger (1839-1901): Organ Sonata No. 2, op. 65, Fantasie-Sonate (in 3 mvts)
