Christoph Kuhlmann, a former student of Naji Hakim, plays four major organ works by Hakim (born 1955) as composed in Hakim's brilliant early period, 1984-1990. Kuhlmann plays the 149-stop Seifert organ built 1905-2002 at St. Mary's Basilica in Kevelaer, Germany. The 28-page CD booklet includes the organ stoplist and English text describing the works. The 1907 Seifert organ of St. Mary's Basilica, Kevelaer, Germany Built 1905-1907, the Seifert organ in St. Mary’s Basilica, Kevelaer, Germany, originally had 113 speaking stops on three manuals and pedal. Today, the organ has 149 speaking stops on four manuals and pedal. In 1987, three horizontal reeds , Tuba magna 16, Tuba mirabilis 8 and Cor harmonique 4, were added within the case and were copied from the chamade ensemble of the Cavaillé-Coll organ at Sacre-Cœur in Paris. In 2002, the 18-stop Antiphonal division. which had been added in 1926 and destroyed in 1944, was reconstructed.
